Goodness, this was a difficult block in the Quilt Along. The instructions were well written. It seemed simple enough, but something went wrong along the way. The block was supposed to measure 12 1/2 inches, but mine ended up being only 12 inches. It took some very creative seam allowances to make the seams match. I drew lines; I sewed on the edge of fabric. It doesn't look all that bad, but the middle square is all puckery. Yes, I am adding that word to the quilting dictionary. It is an adjective.
I thought this block was hard, too. I read the instructions wrong and cut some strips too wide. Didn't realize it until after I cut the block in half. I had to redo that part.
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI, you are set as a "no-reply" so when you post a comment on blogs, no one can email you back. It's an easy setting to change. Instructions are here:

Let me know how the binding tutorial works out for you. =)
Thanks for the heads up. I just updated my profile.
ReplyDeleteGlad I wasn't the only one with issues for this block.

ReplyDeleteI still have one more fabric line to make another block with and I am not looking forward to making it!!! I have battled with the other 2 blocks! Some of the blocks look so perfect and others...well don't. ~Leslie
I'm still struggling with this one! I'm looking at an alternative way to stitch my corner blocks cos I *know* my blocks stitched on the diagonal won't look good.
ReplyDeleteI struggled too! I'm glad it wasn't just me. I draw all my seams, so I know the allowances are right, but the corner blocks were too small. My block ended up being just under 12 1/4", but I'm sure it will be fine in the overall quilt.
