So I don't have a tree skirt yet and I hold Emily Mae solely responsible, but I do have the Christmas-esque throw done.

Ready for spring
I love this quilt top! I love how I hand tops over to Jenny and she does wonders with it. Each block has a flower quilted into it and there are different flowers in each. Oh and the pieced back lined up perfectly so the flowers are centered in those blocks as well. How fortuitous is that?!

Read the instructions
I worked on the Skinny Stripes quilt and it turned out great. I laid it out to stagger the strips and wondered why it was so wide. Something didn't seem right. Well, it was because I hadn't trimmed the jelly roll strips. I had cut off the selvages, but the strips needed to be cut down to 32 1/2 inches. That is a good 10 inches less than my strips. So, I get to rip one side out and sew the strips again. I do love the colours and I've learned a good lesson on reading instructions even when it seems like a ridiculously easy quilt.

Motivated again
The quilt went out today with a card and Cadbury bar added. Mailing that out has motivated me to start sewing again. I was in a slump, but I so enjoyed the moment of mailing the quilt off that now I want to sew and share again.
So, here is the next project. I am moving on to the Prayer Flag Skinny Stripes quilt. I saw the pattern last fall in American Patchwork and Quilting. I like the simplicity of the stripes. I saw the same pattern again last weekend at the AQS show. It was used to demonstrate different quilting patterns; each stripe had a different pattern.
I am using chocolate brown for the background. I purchased the jelly roll from Green Fairy Quilts. They are really cheap and it arrived fast!!! I am taking the easy way out and going with the colour gradation of the jelly roll. I unroll and start sewing. So I am off to sew.

Care package
A couple days ago my mum sent an email requesting I send my 10 year old niece a card or a little something to cheer her up. Pre-teen drama. Well, I knew the perfect gift. Remember this quilt from back in May?! I went ahead and tied the top instead of quilting. I like the way it turned out. A mix of the current with the past- a tied wonky log cabin. I finished up the binding a few minutes ago and took a couple pictures while I was trying it out. I will make it to the post office tomorrow and send it out. I hope she likes it.
