Today I took the afternoon off and took an intro to paper piecing class. I enjoyed it, but it is a lot of work. I can see it being useful for high precision, but a lot of folding and cutting. I do like that you can use fabric without cutting pieces or worrying about bias. And no measuring!!! They were having a Farmers Wife paper piecing class tonight, that may become a club. I am interested, but I am being responsible and not committing to yet another project.
I'm glad you had a chance to learn Foundation Paper Piecing. I'm sure you were in the same class as a friend of mine! I learned FPP from Carol Doak about 15 years ago, and I'm happy to know younger quilters are learning it too. You've got great restraint in not starting the FW quilt. I'm following bloggers who are doing it as a quilt-along, and I'm worn out just with observing!
ReplyDeleteI love the realistic look you get with paper piecing, but it is time consuming. but once you get going and get the hang of it, it goes faster.
