Second half of the weekend

I blogged about the first half of the weekend and the second half was just as enjoyable! Emily came over yesterday and today to work on her deer project. We both cross stitched and talked and enjoyed the lovely weather. We both work in the same field and our summers are very, very hectic. Things have slowed down for her as well and we are taking advantage of the free time. So here are our updates.

Road trip

My friend and I took a quick road trip up to Decorah over the first half of the weekend. We went up to the Seed Savers Exchange for their 6th Annual Tomato Tasting and Seed Saving Workshop. It was a lot of fun, but the funny part is that I don't like tomatoes. I don't put them on sandwiches; I eat BLs not BLTs. I don't care for marinara either, but I do like pizza and fine with pizza sauce. It all goes back to an unfortunate incident growing up involving tomato soup. Anyway, I got into the spirit of things and tasted all the tomatoes (over 30 varieties). Some were good and some were not. More than anything, they were pretty.

Megan from Canoe Ridge Creations is from that area, so I asked if there were any good quilt shops in the area. She recommended Pine Needles. Lovely store!!! It was large and airy and wonderfully arranged. They had a great selection of batiks, watercolours and solids. I held back because I knew I was headed to the Seed Savers, so I only walked away with just a Fig Tree Clover pattern and a spool of Aurifil. This is my first spool so I am excited to try it.

Here are some pictures from the trip. Enjoy!
